MARCIE RAE THOMPSON

REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPIST

Marcie is a Registered Massage Therapist (2200 hours) with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta and has been practicing full time since 2005. She started her education at the University of New Brunswick by earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Marcie continued to the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage to attain a Diploma in Massage Therapy and a specialized Certification in Sports Massage. She then moved to Alberta and attended Mount Royal University, where she received her Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy.

Marcie genuinely enjoys her massage therapy career and specializes in therapeutic deep tissue techniques, sports massage, fire cupping, and pregnancy massage. She thrives on the spirit of sporting events and being part of a team, the power of these dreams has allowed her to attend international competitions with both the National Women’s Hockey Team and the U22 Women’s Hockey Team. Throughout her massage career, she has been entrusted with the care of many Olympians and professional athletes in the CFL, NLL, and NHL. Marcie was also the Massage Therapist for the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL for nine seasons and has been a part of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sports Medicine Team since 2011.

Marcie joined Collegiate Sports Medicine Olds as a Massage Therapist and has also been using her Athletic Therapy knowledge and working as a Sports First Responder with the Olds College Broncos, Olds Grizzly’s Minor Hockey, and the Olds Jr & Sr Lacrosse teams since that time as well. In 2019 Marcie decided to take her passion for massage therapy to another level by becoming a massage instructor at Robertson College and teaching Advanced Massage Therapy (2200-hour program) students. By sharing her years of experience and knowledge, she hopes to inspire the next generation of massage therapists to be equally passionate about the career.

When Marcie is not working, you will most likely find her out hiking with her dogs, riding her horses, or relaxing at home and spending quality time with all her furry and feathery animals. Her true passion is to rescue, rehabilitate and help re-home animals in need.

Marcie is proud to be part of the Collegiate Sports Medicine Olds team since May 2017
